Porter Preserve on Barter’s Island, Maine

It is the time of year when planning a trip to Maine starts. I know as one who has planned many vacations to this wonderful, adventurous state. With this in mind, I will be sharing ideas for your travels twice a month on this blog. The anticipation of your upcoming vacation is half the fun.

There are so many ways to plan a trip. My favorite is to find a place to make your home base and travel out from there each day. The advantage of using this plan is the relaxation at the beginning and end of each day. No hurry to get packed up and then spend all day playing only to have to carry your belongings into a new place in the evening.

Victorian by the Sea Bed and Breakfast is located right in the middle of mid-coast Maine. Unpack your things, get settled in and get ready to play. Start your day with a home cooked breakfast, and then you can be off exploring one of the many “playgrounds” this area offers.

Camden, Rockland, Belfast, Owl’s Head, Damariscotta, and Acadia are just a few destinations. Each blog post will feature a new place or places to explore. Lighthouses are just the beginning of the beautiful scenic and iconic places to see here. Maine can be explored on a beautiful sunny day outdoors, and if you happen to have some rain, there are many places to explore indoors too. And the rain rarely lasts a whole day in the summer and fall season.

One of the best features of Victorian by the Sea is the quiet setting to end your day. There is a big, wonderful wrap-around porch to kick your feet up and enjoy a glass of wine. Watching sailboats out on Penobscot Bay float by or catching up on some reading; after all, vacation is about relaxing, too. Staying at a B & B allows for sharing your adventures of the day with the other guests. I have struck up some great friendships over the years with the other guest.

So as you plan your vacation to Maine, please stop back at our blog page to get some fresh ideas for things to do while you are here.

Enjoy Life!
