March 2009

Greetings from beautiful Penobscot Bay!            March 2009     It has been an interesting first winter for us in Maine  We thought you would enjoy the photos of the Inn blanketed in snow. Victorian by the Sea, March 1, 2009 snow storm The white snow against the blue sky and sea is breathtakingly beautiful. It has been a record-breaking year for snowfall along the coast and we have had three power outages along with the snow, the most recent lasting for more than three days. Thanks to our backup generator we were able to keep the Inn warm and the blueberries frozen!

Wild turkey in field at Victorian by the Sea March 1, 2009We have a flock of approximately fourteen wild turkeys which traverse the front yard every afternoon and it is always fun to watch their antics, but still no moose sightings.

It has been a quiet season, but not without excitement. The Inn hosted a lovely wedding reception in January, and one young couple on a return visit Valentine’s weekend got engaged! We have hosted winter outdoor enthusiasts as well as those who have enjoyed staying in by the fire for a quiet week-end.

And there has been much to do to ready the Inn for our next summer season. The Sawyer Suite is getting a fresh new look with paint, wallpaper and new window coverings, and the parlor ceiling is getting a fresh coat of plaster and paint. We will have a three room apartment, located on the second floor above the Cottage Room, available for weekly rentals beginning in June.

New amenities for 2009   Victorian guests now have free access to a local health club located just four miles from the Inn. You will be impressed with their equipment and facilities. And, a studio piano, located in the dining room, is available for the enjoyment of guests.
