Dear Friends:
It's been another beautiful August here in mid-coast Maine....and the good news is that the cool weather and abundance of rain earlier this summer should provide us with one of the most beautiful falls on record. Predictions are that the foliage will be more colorful than ever, so if you were thinking of a September or October visit, this should be a picturesque fall that will be well worth the trip!
We've continued to make improvements to the Inn, from rehabbing some of the original gardens on the property to re-painting and re-wallpapering inside. And, at the end of the day, we've enjoyed some spectacular views of the rising moon from the porch, where many of our guests also often stop to relax and reflect on their day's adventures.
Before we close, we'd like to thank those of you who have taken time to write a review of the Inn on Trip Advisor. It's gratifying to know that our guests have enjoyed their stays. Whenever you travel, tripadvisor.com is a great site for 3rd party recommendations on lodging, restaurants and more!
If the heat in your part of the country has worn you down this summer, we hope you'll consider a trip to Maine this fall to "cool off." We'd love to see you!
Warmly
, Jeanne & Robert Innkeepers

Tall ships to fill Camden Harbor Labor Day weekend
By tomorrow, four, five and even six-masted schooners will fill the Camden Harbor in a celebration of our maritime heritage. We're also looking forward to seeing many elegant yachts arrive for the 16th annual Camden Windjammer Festival, which brings visitors from as far away as Alaska! If you won't be in the area this year for the Labor Day holiday, you will want to keep this fabulous event in mind next year for an end-of-summer weekend visit.

HarborArts Arts & Craft Show October 3 & 4
If you appreciate seascapes...or the idea of browsing arts and crafts along the scenic shores of Penobscot Bay, you won't want to miss the HarborArts Juried Arts & Craft Show October 3rd and 4th. More than 100 artists and artisans will display, discuss and sell their work in a festive open marketplace. If you love beautiful and romantic seascape paintings, we're sure you'll find many here. Best of all, it's all happening in Camden, just a few miles from the Inn.
Another great day trip during your stay at the Inn!
In our last newsletter we recommended Pemaquid Point as a great day trip not far from the Inn. So is Monhegan Island, probably Maine's most famous island thanks to the work of such internationally known artists as Rockwell Kent, Edward Hopper and Jamie Wyeth. A 10-mile ferry ride from Port Clyde, Monhegan is small yet seventeen miles of trails wind around its nature preserves and spectacular cliffs. The island has a year-round population of about seventy-five and no automobile traffic. The drive to Port Clyde takes about an hour...and the Monhegan Boat Linetrip to the island sails past past pine-clad islands, porpoises and small whales, lobstermen hauling their traps, schooners and families of seals. |

It's all happening here in Camden at the fourth annual Maine Fare! Many events will be showcased, including chef demonstrations, panel discussions, workshops, food and beverage tastings, author signings, and dinners. Maine Fare investigates the history, present and future of Maine's wonderful food, from farm to table. Some of Maine's best-known chefs are teaming up with Maine's Wines, Spirits and Beers to produce an extraordinary grazing dinner under the stars. From Camden International Film Festival's sceening of KING CORN, to Camden Harbour Inn's "Perfect Scent Dinner," to special offers from area businesses, we think there will be something of interest for everyone at Maine Fare -- including just a lot of good things to eat!
